I recently tried Moosicology with my two children aged 18 months and 4. I wasn’t sure how they were going to take to it but so far it has been a positive experience. The books are colourful, attractive and engaging for young children. The songs are catchy and memorable and kept my children’s attention for the short lessons. I like that the lessons are short enough to fit into our day and not be overwhelming when trying to include two children of different ages.
My 18 month old loved the music and was happily bouncing along to the songs. One of the nicest things was hearing my 4 year old singing one of the songs to himself later in the day. It was lovely to see that the songs had stuck with him and that he was enjoying them even after we had finished the lesson. I think this shows how effective catchy songs can be in helping children engage with and remember what they are learning
The only difficulty I encountered was finding the tracks again after downloading them. I found this a little frustrating, as I would have liked a quicker and easier way to access the music whenever we wanted to use it.
Personally, I would love to see an app that brings all the tracks together in one place, making them easy to find and play at any time. Having the option to use the app on an iPad would also be a great addition, as it would make the whole experience even more convenient for busy parents.
Overall, we really enjoyed trying Mooscoilgy and would give it four stars. The colourful books and engaging songs made learning fun for both of my children, and I would recommend it to other parents looking for an enjoyable, music-based activity for their young children.
