Review: Toddling About - West Lodge Farm Park

Review by Lynsey Elston, @Spectrum_mum_adventure

My name is Lynsey and I have a 4 year old on the ASD pathway and a stepson who is 11. I’m no expert, I’m just a mum, trying to advocate for families in similar situations to us. I will give honest reviews of places we visit.

My first review is of West Lodge Farm Park in Desborough, Kettering. It’s a lovely farm with lots to offer for the whole family all year round. There are tractor rides, crazy golf, indoor and outdoor play equipment, lots of farm animals to see and meadows to walk to name a few.

The price is average for a family day out and you can get a free carer ticket (proof required). We didn’t actually buy any food here, but they do have food options available. There was plenty of room to take your own picnics/food with tables under shelter too.

The main paths are wheelchair/pushchair friendly but if you go out further in the fields then it’s a little more difficult. They do offer disabled toilets throughout the farm. My only criticism of this was they didn’t have a stretcher or anything for bigger children or adults needing these facilities. The play equipment is a lovely wooden structure. However, it’s not very inclusive. You would need to be able to climb independently to use it.

The highlight for us, has to be, being able to pet/handle and feed some of the animals. Our son has a keen interest in animals so he was really engaged. In fact the whole family loved it. From a 4 year old up to grandparents.

The farm is open 7 days a week and in our opinion well worth a visit. For more reviews or to get in touch, please follow my account on instagram spectrum_mum_adventure.
