Review: Mog's Christmas at Royal & Derngate
Review by Ally Richmond, Toddle About West Northants
If you’re looking for the purr-fect festive outing for little ones this year, Mog’s Christmas at the Royal & Derngate is an absolute delight! From the very first moment Mog padded onto the stage, tiny audience members were completely enchanted — and so were the adults.

The show is wonderfully gentle, just right for toddlers: bright colours, soft lighting and friendly characters. Mog herself is adorable, clumsy, and utterly lovable — every wiggle, flop, and curious meow had the little ones giggling.
The story moves at a lovely toddler-friendly pace, with simple scenes and cheerful music that kept little eyes wide and engaged. There are playful surprises, silly moments that everyone can enjoy, and plenty of opportunities for little ones to join in with claps, giggles, and even a little bit of snow!
The staging is magical without being overwhelming — cosy decorations, snowy sparkles, pretty flowers and clever costumes. And the performers are wonderfully expressive, making everything easy for even the tiniest theatre-goers to follow.

It’s just long enough, very fun, and perfectly pitched for younger children, making it an ideal first-theatre experience. By the final bows, Mog had completely won the hearts of every child in the room.
Verdict: 10/10 from my 5 and 7 year olds and my two year old niece had a lovely time, was completely fascinated by Mog's performance and adored catching snowflakes and singing along with 'Bother that cat'.
A charming, gentle, and joy-filled travel through the seasons ending with Christmas. A show that toddlers will adore. Mog’s Christmas is the perfect festive treat for little families — warm, funny, and full of friendly feline magic.
Tickets available for performances throughout December.
