Review: Future Me Book Bundle, worth £23.97

We recently received a selection of Future Me books for our son, who absolutely loves books and reading, so having some new stories to add to his collection was a real treat. He enjoys sitting down to explore new characters, and these books certainly captured his attention.

One thing we noticed is that the stories do not rhyme and, at times, the text does not flow as naturally as some other books we have read together. However, this was balanced out by the engaging content and colourful illustrations, which kept our little boy interested.

His clear favourite was the Train Driver book. He is currently obsessed with trains and loves making "choo choo" noises, so this one was an instant hit. The pictures were bright and engaging, and he enjoyed pointing out all the different trains throughout the book. The Astronaut book was another highlight because of the positive messages woven into the story. We liked how it encouraged healthy habits, such as eating healthy food, staying active and keeping muscles strong, alongside introducing the idea of space exploration.

While we enjoyed the concept of encouraging children to think about future careers, some of the roles felt a little ambitious for toddlers. The final page of each book includes the phrase, "If you can see it, you can be it", which is a lovely sentiment. However, the reality is that most toddlers are unlikely to have ever met or seen an astronaut in real life. Young children tend to connect best with the people and jobs they encounter in their everyday world. With this in mind, it would be great if the range expanded to include more familiar careers such as teachers, nurses, builders, tradespeople, posties, bus drivers and supermarket workers. These are roles that children regularly see in their communities and would help make the books feel even more relatable while still broadening their understanding of the world around them.

Overall, these are enjoyable and engaging books with lovely illustrations and positive messages that certainly captured our son's interest.
