UK Parents Cry Out for Planet-Saving Toys

Jennifer Metcalfe leads the charge for sustainable toys as more than two thirds of parents admit they're fed up with the plastic options.

The UK’s lack of planet-friendly toys has also left 73% of parents feeling limited in their options.

The Hollyoaks star and mum-of-one has teamed up with eco-friendly toy brand Recyclings to help make playtime more sustainable, just after National Recycling Week.

Off the back of National Recycling Week, Hollyoaks star and celebrity mum Jennifer Metcalfe is joining UK parents in voicing concerns over the UK’s lack of sustainable toys, after new research from Vivid Goliath Group’s Recyclings range revealed that more than two thirds (69%) of toy-buying parents admitted that they are concerned about plastic waste from playtime.

The research also highlighted that over three-quarters (76%) of parents would prefer to get toys made from recycled materials like recycled plastic, but almost all of them (73%) agree that the options for sustainable toys are too limited.

As many families work towards adopting more eco-friendly habits, Jennifer also showed her support on Instagram for Recyclings’ mission to make playtime greener, without compromising on fun. Made from 70% recycled plastic, each of the 120+ cute, collectible Recyclings creatures save 5 bottle tops from going to landfill, whilst the range’s larger playsets saving a whopping 241 bottle caps.

“Many of us are making conscious efforts to become more sustainable households, and it’s difficult to find toys that live up to this intention yet truly keep kids entertained,” Jennifer Metcalfe said. “The collectible nature of the Recyclings range means that my son’s world of play grows naturally as we gather more characters, but in a totally sustainable way. Plus, what better way to teach my child about the environment than with our personal favourite, the Trashtastic Truck!”

With kids’ demand for current products pushing 83% of parents to still buy new rather than pre-loved, Recyclings is unique in being on-trend yet environmentally friendly. The range actively builds on 79% of kids’ natural interest in sustainability, encouraging them to mix, match and collect characters and playsets to understand the importance of being kind to our planet.

Darrell Jones, Marketing Director, UK at Vivid Goliath Group said: “Recyclings was created to combine an eco-friendly ethos with toys that are still engaging and fun for kids – something which simply didn’t exist in the collectibles aisle. It’s clear from the research that parents are looking for these sustainable alternatives on shelves reflected in the demand we’re seeing for the range. Recyclings has already saved 30 million bottle caps from ending up in landfill this year alone, and we’re committed to continuing to build the range with sustainability at the heart.”

Recyclings are available from major toy retailers including The Entertainer, Argos and Amazon. Individual Recyclings start from £2.99 and range up to £29.99 for collector sets with limited edition characters and playsets. Visit: www.recyclings.toys for more information.
