4 Essentials to Help You Relax as a Mother

If you’re an expectant mother or have just brought a new life into the world, then you know that life isn’t about you anymore. Taking care of a family is a 24-hour job, and there are no sick days. Things are even tougher when you have to juggle other responsibilities.

However, you shouldn’t assume that you have to wait until your next holiday to enjoy yourself! There are a number of things you can do to relieve stress and find peace in your daily life. Here are 4 essentials to help you relax as a mother with the time you have.

Relax in bed

Memory Foam Bed

We spend roughly a third of our lives asleep, and our mood and health largely depends on the quality of sleep we get each night. A bed that is too firm or soft can cause neck, back and joint pain. Tossing and turning at night trying to get comfortable will prevent you from getting the deep rest you need to wake up in a good mood, too.

If you’re experiencing any of these issues, one of the things you could do is consider investing in a memory foam mattress. If you’re unfamiliar with them, Mattress Next Day has a nice piece on memory foam mattresses you can check out. They explain how they are able to improve sleeping alignment and relieve pressure points. The article also discusses the different types of memory foam mattresses on the market and how to pick the right one for you. If you are not a fan of memory foam, then you should consider trying Kitchen Home pocket sprung mattress.

A Massage Pillow

Massage pillows are an affordable alternative to getting an actual massage, and the best thing is that you can have one anytime you wish. Massage pillows typically include several balls that rub wherever you place them. Some models include heating elements, so you get the benefits of a heat pad as well as a massage. If that’s not good enough, you can try an acupressure mat for some do-it-yourself stress relief. Either way, you get a lot more out of it than a single visit to the spa.

Note: Some massage pillows aren’t suitable for pregnant women. Please read all guidance properly.

An Aromatherapy Pendant

We can’t always take a bath in essential oils or sit by an aromatherapy diffuser. An aromatherapy pendant allows you to truly take it with you. There are cheap ones that don’t look very great, but there are also stylish pendants that could be mistaken for an upscale piece of jewellery. Depending on the model, you may need to untwist the top and take in a calming whiff of your favourite essential oil. A side benefit of using these is that they allow you to take relaxing oils to a workplace that wouldn’t allow you to set up a basic oil diffuser.

Stress Relief Tea

There are few things more relaxing than a good cup of herbal tea. However, you have to be careful about which type of tea you use as some may have some caffeine in them. Some of the best herbal teas for relaxation include passionflower, chamomile, and valerian.

Mums have the hardest job in the world. Pick up a few of these essentials to help you relax as required and get more out of your life with less stress.
