Outdoor Learning at Daffodils Outdoor Nursery

Daffodils Outdoor Nursery Research shows that time spent outdoors has a positive effect on children’s health. Daffodils Outdoor Nursery is a unique, Ofsted registered childcare setting that opened in September 2016, providing care for children age 2-5 years. Based on the border of Leicestershire and Northamptonshire, in Arthingworth, and surrounded by beautiful rolling countryside, they offer an exciting and unique opportunity for your children to experience freedom to learn in the outdoors. The nursery is run by highly qualified staff and promotes the long-established philosophies of the Scandinavian Forest Kindergartens. Children explore, learn and develop in the outdoors, whatever the weather!

Outdoor Learning

Days are filled with activities and play that is led by the children’s interests and innate curiosity. The outdoor approach to learning allows children to learn to manage their own risks and challenges, supported by professional early years practitioners who will enhance their learning opportunities.

Daffodils is committed to promoting a ‘have a go’ attitude and encouraging the children to be resourceful, inventive and creative. They understand how competent pre school children can be and how well they respond to being trusted with responsibility, thus boosting their self confidence and self esteem. Research shows that time spent outdoors has a positive effect on children’s health. They also have an amazing indoor space for cosy winter story times and yummy tea times around a table. The children are given the chance to enjoy a whole host of activities, such as:

  • Wood work
  • Risky play
  • Messy play
  • Forest school sessions
  • Art with nature
  • Clay modelling
  • Creative modelling
  • Sand/water play
  • Mud kitchen cooking!
  • Den building
  • Dancing
  • Climbing
  • Singing
  • Yoga
  • And much more!

Who’s in Charge?

Leading this great adventure are Amy Claypole and Olivia Langham. Amy has many years’ experience working with under 5s. She is a qualified teacher and holds Early Years Professional Status. Amy’s passion for outdoor learning began when she successfully set up an outdoor playgroup in rural Devon and realised the potential that children could reach when given the freedom to explore in a safe nurturing environment. Olivia is a level 3 qualified nursery nurse. She brings bags of fun and creativity to everything she does, so much so she was given the role of lead art and crafts coordinator when she spent a summer working with Camp America. “Creativity is within every child,” says Olivia. We just encourage and nurture what is already there”. Together, Amy and Olivia have created a nurturing, exciting and holistic approach to childcare and education. Their nursery is unique to their area, providing the best care, the best environment and the best experiences. Why not contact Daffodils to arrange a visit where you can meet the team, ask your questions, experience their ethos and gain a sense of what they have to offer your child. You won’t be disappointed!
