Review: Kooch Kids' Clothing
A new designer label creating baby and childrenswear
By Tim Freed

I must admit, given that Kooch is a new business selling designer children’s clothes and is run by a local mum of two, I was prepared to give some concessions in this review if the finish wasn’t perfect, or the designs not quite to my taste. But I can hand on my heart say that Morag Larsen has blown me away with her new Kooch brand.
We were sent an item of clothing for each of our children, along with one of the cuddly Kooch Bots, to review – Alice and Sophie both received T-shirts, William a baby gro, and the Kooch Bot was for the girls (though William took a particular liking to it!) The packages arrived in brightly coloured parcels, which was a fantastic start – they were very exciting for both the children and grown ups to open! On opening, we were delighted with the bright colours, tasteful designs and the overall quality of the products.

Alice, 3½, was particularly taken with the designs. One T-shirt had a city-scape drawn on it and Alice was quick to point out that the tall, thin building must be where Mr. Skinny lives. She also loved her T-shirt, which simply had the Kooch logo on it and she was incredibly keen to wear it and show it off to her friends. It is also worth noting that all the Kooch garments are ethically produced in Africa from 100% high quality African cotton, free from chemicals and synthetic fertilisers. In a world of mass-produced, high margin, low quality products, it is refreshing to find someone prepared to go out of the way to make sure that their products are not only fantastically attractive and well made, but also ethically produced.
What particularly impressed me about our ‘Kooch experience’ however, was the attention to detail. Not only is it obvious that an awful lot of thought, time and energy has gone into making these clothes perfect, but right down to an attractive, personalised fabric label, addressing the package to each of us by name, all the ‘t’s have been crossed, and the ‘i’s dotted, giving the whole shopping experience a really personal feel. The fact that Morag and her partner Phil really care about their customers’ happiness and satisfaction shines through.

In conclusion, it seems to me that Morag has thought of everything, leaving me to give her a big 10 out of 10 for style, delivery, service, ethics, quality and value. If you are looking for something bright, stylish and full of life for your child to wear, then Kooch is definitely a brand worth looking at.
