Water Babies raise money for Tommy’s, the baby charity
By Tamsin Brewis

Over a thousand babies around the Midshires area have been taking part in a special Olympic themed ‘Spashathon’ event this week in order to raise money for Tommy’s, the baby charity.
Each baby is being sponsored by their family and friends to take part in a special swimming challenge that involves activities such as synchronized swimming, diving, gymnastics and athletics. Last time Water Babies Midshires managed to raise £19,800 and are hoping to beat that again this year.
Tamsin Brewis, who runs Water Babies locally said: “We always have a fantastic time raising money for Tommy’s but the theme this year has been particularly exciting. All of our babies are having a great time splashing about and we’ve discovered just how competitive the parents are!”
Water Babies have been taking part in the Splashathon nationally and are hoping to raise in excess of £100,000 this year to bring their grand total up to an enormous £500,000. Tommy’s will use this money to fund research into pregnancy problems and offer support to those affected.
Jane Brewin, Chief Executive of Tommy’s, says: “We are so grateful to the support that Water Babies provides. There’s a natural synergy between our two organisations in that Water Babies works to protect the lives of the babies we work so hard to help to be born.”
