Musical Minis Celebrate 21st Anniversary
Harriet’s creative photo wins place in national competition

Harriet and her mother Jen Clewley won the Buckinghamshire and Northants Musical Minis 21st Anniversary Competition with their creative ‘learning made fun’ themed photo. Harry and his mother Gemma Cronin came second in the competition.
To celebrate their 21st Anniversary, Musical Minis hosted a national photo competition, with the best photo from each region going forward to a grand final. This established British franchise has been providing fun, music based classes for children for 21 years. Now operating from over 200 locations across the country; with over 30,000 children having attended classes!
Musical Minis was set up 21 years ago by Karen Sherr, a former play specialist at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Sick Children. Her motivation was being unable to find a fun music focused class for her son, so she decided to set one up! The classes were so popular they quickly grew and spread all over the country as more mums got involved and wanted to join in the fun.
Amanda Perkins owns the Buckinghamshire and Northamptonshire Musical Minis operating classes in Grange Park, Buckingham, Brackley, Weedon, Winslow, Downhead Park and Stony Stratford.
“We wanted to do something fun and engaging to celebrate our 21stAnniversary. The ‘learning made fun’ themed photo competition has been great for the children and parents. They uploaded their photo online through a forum where “Time for Tots” a magazine for pre-school aged children, judged them for creativity and originality. Now we can’t wait for the final!,” commented Amanda.

The quality of entries was exceptional. All the parents received a complimentary photo key ring for their efforts with Harriet and her mother, Jen Clewley, winning a professionally printed photo canvas.
"We have been going to Musical Minis since Harriet was 3 months old and it is the most fun we have together. Not only have I met other mums and made new friends but Harriet has also developed skills using the songs. She has learnt about her body through songs like heads shoulders knees and toes. Developed her co-ordination through playing instruments, as well as, different sounds and listening skills from the puppet stories and interactive parachute session. It is definitely an activity we both get a lot from and enjoy every time", commented Jen.
All the regional winners will be entered into the grand final with the chance of landing the national prize, a free photo shoot with a professional photographer with complimentary photographs included. TV Celebrity Sarah Walker from the BBC’s ‘To Buy or Not To Buy’ has the tough job of judging the finalists. We wish Harriet and Jen Clewley the best of luck.
